Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd operate a total of 934 stores comprising, 557 supermarkets and 377 convenience stores. Sainsbury's has been a repeat client of Riley Consulting since 1920.
We work for Sainsbury's Supermarkets at both strategic and project level. At a strategic level we are an integral part of the Property Team that deliver new stores, extensions and convenience stores worth approximately £230M per annum.
In conjunction with the Sainsbury's Development Executives and external Property Agents, we liaise with the legal, planning, public relations and construction teams to carry out the up-front due diligence and feasibility work. We act as a link between the property, retail and construction teams taking projects through the investment approval process, acting as project and cost managers.
We coordinate with lawyers and surveyors on land acquisition and land assembly. We also negotiate with landlords regarding Heads of Terms, the lease and agreement for lease. We coordinate the production and submission of necessary supporting evidence in relation to retail impact assessments and traffic impact assessments.
Riley Consulting provides coordination with planning and highways consultants to ensure conditions are minimised and the planning application is correct both technically and from a cost perspective. We ensure all legal and Section 278/ 106 agreements are in place.
We also assist Sainsbury's legal advisors in completing contractual and appointment documentation.
We work with the Sainsbury's Procurement Team, responsible for tendering and appointing the 1st tier main contractors for all of Sainsbury's projects.
We also review the 2nd tier subcontractor and supplier base with the aim of identifying savings and delivering best value. This is received via continuous benchmarking against the tender cost and performance and is monitored by key performance indicators.
