Rutland County Council - Refurbishment of 12 No Primary Schools in Rutland
Rutland County Council (RCC) is England's smallest county. They have a very simple council structure that enables them to provide high-quality services to the community and operate in the most efficient manner. Some of the services provided include education, ecomonic development and the environment.
Project Description:
Phase 1
Refurbishment and remodelling of 3 nr Primary Schools in Rutland, together with approximate external works and the construction of appropriate canopies. The internal works to the teaching areas were completed during the summer holidays, with the remainder of the works were completed during the October half term period.
Phase 2
Refurbishment, remodelling and new build works to 4 nr Primary Schools in Rutland, together with approximate external works and the construction of appropriate canopies.
Phase 3
Refurbishment, remodelling and new build works to 5 nr Primary Schools in Rutland, together with approximate external works and the construction of appropriate canopies.
All three phases require prompt and collaborative input from the nominated principal stakeholders - RCC, VCC School Governors, Contractor, Henry Riley LLP as Cost Consultants & Employer's Agent.
The Design & Build Contractor for the refurbishment of all 12 no Primary Schools was appointed from the East Midlands Property Alliance (EMPA) framework to assist the tight programme and to assist economy across 12 no individual sites.
Key performance indicators are used by EMPA to ensure that all Contractors on their framework are meeting their responsibilities within time, cost and quality. These KPIs are being monitored by Rutland County Council and the Contractor, with appropriate input from ourselves.
Key Challenges:
- Completion of primary teaching areas for start of new school terms.
- Working around operational areas whilst teaching and other activities are in progress.
