London Borough of Croydon - Keston Primary School
Keston Primary School is a two form entry school, situated in Old Coulsdon, with 420 pupils on the register. They also have places for 52 children in a nursery block.
Project Description:
Phase 1 - The construction of a modular nursery building (pre-fabricated), co-ordination, delivery and assembly on site. Associated external works and services to link to the existing school buildings were also undertaken.
Form of Contract: JCT IFC 1998
Phase 2 - A traditional link building of approx 750 m2 usable space; comprising 2 new classrooms, toilet facilities and reception area. In conjunction we constructed a link reception and corridor to the modular unit built in phase 1. We also undertook extensive modernisation works to the existing school buildings.
We involved the preferred contractor in an extensive value management programme prior to their appointment. This was conducted alongside design development with the architect and key stakeholders in order to achieve best value.
Challenges included completing much of the work during the school term, maintaining access and enforcing a strict Health & Safety policy at all times to protect building users.
