Estate Management is a multi-disciplinary organisation responsible for the development, management and maintenance of the University of Cambridge estate, along with the provision of a variety of related services.

Project Descriptions:

Department of Chemistry Laboratory Refurbishment G51 East

The project incorporated the decontamination and removal of fume cupboards, new lab benching and Mechanical & Electrical services on the upper ground level of a multi storey teaching laboratory building.

Works included:

  • Provision of new plumbing & mechanical services
  • New electrical services
  • Fume cupboards and associated extract duct works
  • New lab benching and general refurbishment
  • New ceilings with fire proof lining
  • Sanding and re-sealing of floors
  • Installation of new windows.

The adjacent laboratories remained in occupation whilst the works were being carried out.

Form of Contract: JCT without quantities

Melville Laboratory Refurbishment

The works included the decontamination and removal of fume cupboards, new lab benching and mechanical & electrical services on the upper ground level of a multi storey teaching laboratory building. The project also incorporated:

  • Provision of new plumbing & mechanical services
  • New electrical services
  • Fume cupboards and associated extract duct works
  • New lab benching and general refurbishment
  • New ceilings with fire proof lining
  • Sanding and re-sealing of floors
  • Installation of new windows.
  • Replacement windows

The adjacent laboratories remained in occupation whilst the works were being carried out.

Department of Veterinary Medicine, Laboratory Refurbishment

We were appointed for the refurbishment of a Category 3 containment laboratory which included the decontamination and removal of fume cupboards, new lab benching and Mechanical & Electrical services on the upper ground level of a multi storey teaching laboratory building. Works included:

  • Provision of new plumbing & mechanical services
  • Reinforced walls
  • Air filtration system
  • New electrical services
  • Fume cupboards and associated extract duct works
  • New lab benching and general refurbishment
  • Installation of new windows.

The adjacent laboratories remained in occupation whilst the works were being carried out.
